Adding Videos via Lot Builder
- Navigate to the applicable auction from the Dashboard, then select Catalogs > Lot Builder.
- Use the Go To Lot drop-down at the top of the page to select the lot.
- Click the Plus (+) icon to the right of the Videos field.
- A pop-up window will open. Click the I'm sure button to continue.
- Enter the video's embed code into the Embed HTML from YouTube field.
- BidSpotter users should use the URL in the YouTube browser window rather than the embed code or the 'Share' URL.
- Click the Save button. Wavebid will return to the lot in Lot Builder. The videos count will update to reflect the upload.
- Repeat these steps to add more videos to the lot.
Please note that while videos attached to lots will be exported to marketing partners, the Wavebid Plugin, and Proxibid, they may not be exported all other bidding platforms.
Adding Videos via Import
Videos can be added to lots via import by adding a Video Links column the catalog .CSV. For more information on preparing a spreadsheet for import, see Importing Catalogs.
The embed code for the video should be placed in the Video Links column for the applicable lot.
- BidSpotter users should use the URL in the YouTube browser window rather than the embed code or the 'Share' URL.
When mapping the import, this column should be mapped to the Video Links column header.
Each time a catalog is imported, the video links on the spreadsheet will be added to the lot, not replaced. For example, if lot 5 contains a video link on the spreadsheet and the spreadsheet is imported three different times, lot 5 will have three video links- even if they are all the same.
If the desired video links have already been added to a lot, then the video links should be removed from the catalog spreadsheet before importing again.
Please note that while videos attached to lots will be exported to marketing partners, the Wavebid Plugin, and Proxibid, they may not be exported all other bidding platforms.
Deleting Videos
There is not a way to select an individual video for deletion from a lot. Deleting one video will delete all the videos from the lot. Deleted videos cannot be retrieved.
- Navigate to the applicable auction from the Dashboard, then select Catalogs > Lot Builder.
- Use the Go To Lot drop-down at the top of the page to select the lot.
- Click the Trashcan icon to the right of the Videos field.
- A pop-up window will open. Click the I'm sure button to continue.
YouTube Embed Codes
To add a video to a lot in Wavebid, the embed code will need to be obtained from YouTube.
- BidSpotter users can enter the regular YouTube URL into this field rather than the embed code.
- Navigate to the video and click on the Share button. A pop-up window should open.
- Select the Embed option.
- Click the Copy or Copy Link button.
- Paste this link into Lot Builder or a catalog spreadsheet.
YouTube Shorts
Videos made using YouTube Shorts will not post correctly to Wavebid, unless the URL is manually altered first.
To post YouTube Shorts videos to Wavebid, the word 'shorts' in the URL must be changed to 'watch'. For example:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/GpOaJT0O4_g
should be changed to
https://www.youtube.com/watch/GpOaJT0O4_g
Additionally, any text that follows the video ID should also be removed. For example: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/GpOaJT0O4_g?feature=share
should be changed to
https://www.youtube.com/watch/GpOaJT0O4_g
Once the URL has been adjusted, open the link to ensure it's working properly, and then obtain the embed code.
Troubleshooting
Lot Error- Subsequent Batch Lots Failed to Update
This error can occur when videos are being exported to Proxibid for a cross-listed event. If the video links are not in an acceptable format, this error can occur. To correct the issue, the video links on the impacted lots will need to be replaced and the lots will need to be re-exported.
- Navigate to the applicable auction from the Wavebid Dashboard, then select Auction > Export Auction.
- Click on the most recent timestamp link on the right side of the page under the 'Previous Catalogs' section.
- If the catalog has been exported multiple times, the user may need to open multiple exports before locating one containing the Video Links for all of the lots.
- Download and open the .CSV.
- View the URLs in the 'Video Links' column of the .CSV to locate the URLs that may not be in an acceptable format.
- YouTube URLs that contain the word 'Shorts' are not accepted by Wavebid. See the steps above for converting a YouTube Shorts URL into a 'Watch' URL.
- YouTube URLs that do not contain 'https://' cannot be exported to Proxibid.
- Open the YouTube video in YouTube and click on the Share button below the video.
- If the video was a YouTube Short, you must convert it to a 'Watch' video URL before clicking the Share button.
- A pop-up window will open. Click on the Copy button to the right of the full URL that displays in the pop-up.
- Navigate back to the applicable auction in Wavebid and select Catalogs > Lot Builder.
- Use the Go To Lot drop-down at the top of the page to select the lot with the impacted lot.
- Click the Trashcan icon to the right of the Videos field toward the top of the page to delete the original URL.
- A pop-up window will open. Click the I'm Sure button to proceed.
- Click the Plus icon to the right of the Videos field toward the top of the page to add the new URL.
- A pop-up window will open. Click the I'm Sure button to proceed.
- Paste the full URL from YouTube into the Embed HTML From YouTube field and click the Save button.
- A '1' should now appear to the right of the Video field for that lot. This indicates that the new video URL has been successfully added to the lot.
- Export the updated lots to Proxibid.
