What is Offline Mode?
Wavebid Offline functions by using a Server/Client model without needing a constant internet connection. The software package itself is installed on a server computer that clients connect to through a local area network using Google Chrome. The only intended purpose of Offline Mode is to clerk in areas without an internet connection using Microsoft Windows. Offline Mode cannot be used with Mac.
Requirements
The process of installation and configuration can take from 15 minutes to a few hours. Please set aside enough time to perform these steps with enough time for testing the installation.
Offline Mode cannot be used for an auction company's first sale with Wavebid.
The amount of support Wavebid is able to provide in relation to Offline Mode is very limited. Users should read this guide very thoroughly and ensure they understand the limitations of Offline Mode, and that have a backup plan in place of errors/issues.
It is strongly recommended that Wavebid be used through an internet connection made with a hotspot before Wavebid Offline is considered as an option for conducting a sale. Clerking an auction requires very little bandwidth and usage of a hotspot can suffice to get this done.
Please contact support@wavebid.com with any additional questions.
Networking
The first installation of Offline Mode will need to be performed on a computer with a working internet connection, as it will need to sync with the online databases to obtain company/auction data. If the computer is offline, the installation will be corrupted.
The auction company should setup a local network that will connect their computers together. The easiest way to do so is to use a router that will create the network automatically, then connect the all of the computers to it using Wifi or ethernet cabling.
This network should be setup, configured, and tested before heading to the sale site.
Hardware
While Wavebid Offline will execute on most computers acting as the server, it does have hardware requirements to ensure proper functionality:
- CPU: Intel i7 (or AMD equivalent) running above 2GHz
- RAM: 8 GB
- Storage: Hard disk drive with 165MB of storage for the installer file, 500MB once it has been installed.
Recommended operating system requirements:
- CPU: Intel i7 (or AMD equivalent) running above 3GHz
- RAM: 16 GB or more if possible
- Storage: Solid state drive with 165MB of storage for the installer file, 500MB once it has been installed.
